Angela, 17, eyeing off Miss World Australia modelling title
ANGELA McNamara has her sights set on the modelling industry.
After claiming the title of Miss Country Girl Rockhampton on Sunday, the 17-year-old is now eyeing off the Miss World Australia crown later this year.
Angela was crowned the winner of the annual Miss Country Girl Australia local competition that was held at the Frenchville Sports Club at the weekend.
"It's still sinking in that I won," she said.
"I was so nervous when I arrived at the competition but it was such an amazing experience. I was competing against a lot of beautiful and talented girls, any one of them could have been the winner.
"But I think because I loved what I was doing it made it easier; however I still need to gain a lot more experience. I'm just so excited to be representing Rockhampton at the National Miss Country Girl Australia this year."
The Cathedral College student said she never expected to win but always had her eye on the prize.
"You never know what your competition is in these contests but I go in aiming to take first place," she said.
"I've loved modelling since I was a child, always dressing up and doing make up. I saw Miss Country Girl Australia as a great opportunity to enter the modelling industry because it's definitely something I have always been interested in and something I am hoping to do as a career.
"I've recently been accepted into Miss World Australia 2015 and also World Supermodel Australasia which is really exciting. I'm still waiting for the competition dates later this year but I applied for these competitions because it would be more great opportunities."
Angela will represent Rockhampton in the Miss Country Girl nationals in July.
