Border Security finalise search operation at Hay Point

UPDATE 11AM: 

THE Australian Border Force has confirmed "nothing of interest" was located during the search of a vessel at Hay Point this morning. 

An ABF spokesman said they have been conducting operational activity in the area.

 

"The ABF regularly conducts this type of activity, including vessel searches, to detect and deter potential importations of illicit goods," he said.

"Nothing of interest to the ABF was located during this activity."

EARLIER:

BORDER security are searching a vessel at Hay Point this morning.

Just before 5am, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to assist the agency conduct a 'confined spaces search'.

A QFES spokeswoman confirmed three Mackay crews remained on scene assisting with the search at a location 'near the water' in the vicinity of Hay Point Rd and Martin Armstrong Drive - the location appears to be near the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.

Queensland Police were unable to provide further details.
