Handgun, baseball bat wielded in violent Coast home invasion

BREAKING: Two robbers armed with a gun and a baseball bat have unleashed a savage attack on a Sunshine Coast home.

Police were called to a Minyama home yesterday just after 2.20pm, after a brutal armed robbery saw two people threatened with weapons and one man punched in the head.

Police allege that a 21-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were home at their Chelsea Crescent residence when two men entered the house and threatened them with a baseball bat and a handgun, demanding cash.

The men punched the male resident in the head before searching the home and stealing property.

A man has now been arrested over the brutal armed robbery.

Just after 7pm police made their first arrest over the brutal armed robbery when they attended a Kuluin address and located a 35-year-old man nearby.

The Kuluin man is expected to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today charged with one count of enter dwelling with intent, assault and possession of a restricted item (telescopic baton).

Investigations are continuing as police continue to hunt for the second robber.
