Teenager dies after car and ute Bruce Hwy crash

UPDATE 3pm: A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson has confirmed that a 15-year-old girl has died following a crash 15km south of Bowen.

The spokesperson said the girl had initially been trapped within one of the vehicles.

She was freed, however paramedics were unable to revive her.

Meanwhile a six-year-old girl, an eight-year-old girl and a 45-year-old woman have been taken to Bowen Hospital in a stable condition.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the crash involved a car and a ute, with one vehicle rolling during the incident.

Police officers remain at the scene and are attempting to determine the cause of the crash.

One lane of the highway is now open.

EARLIER: Helicopter tasked to Bruce Hwy crash south of Bowen

A HELICOPTER has been tasked to a two vehicle crash 15 kilometres south of Bowen.

Paramedics treating five people involved in the crash.

Police say the road is expected to be closed for about an hour.
