Sloppy Dragons let it slip against Tigers
DRAGONS five-eighth Benji Marshall endured a forgettable return to Campbelltown Stadium as his former team, the Tigers, triumphed 22-4.
The 2005 Tigers premiership winner would have rued the amount of dropped ball from his team - four times on the first tackle in the first half last night.
That allowed brilliant Tigers fullback James Tedesco, in fine form after a torn patella kept him to just eight games last year, to run riot in the first half. The 22-year-old produced a brilliant offload while falling to the ground for Kevin Naiqama to score in the sixth minute.
Eight minutes later Tedesco scored one for himself, displaying his lightning-fast speed to swoop on a Luke Brooks grubber.
Then in the 18th minute, Tedesco showed beautiful quick hands to put Pat Richards over.
And in the 26th minute, Tedesco was involved in a slick backline play that saw Richards grab his second try, and give the hosts a 20-0 lead.
The Dragons hit back with a try to Dane Nielsen in the 38th minute and enjoyed a stack of second-half possession, but their misfiring attack could not over-run the hosts.
TIGERS 22 (P Richards 2, J Tedesco, K Naiqama tries; P Richards 3 goals) def DRAGONS 4 (D Nielsen try). Crowd: 11,837 at Campbelltown Stadium last night.
