WET AND DREARY: A damp and cool weekend on the way

RAIN, thunderstorms and cooler temperatures are on the radar for much of Queensland as we head into the weekend, with much of it clearing on Sunday.

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting "areas of rain and thunderstorms with heavy falls" may build on Friday and into Saturday, particularly in southern parts of the state. A cloudy weekend also means avoiding the summer heat for a little longer.

Today we can expect showers and thunderstorms between Longreach, Roma and Goodiwindi.

Tomorrow the BOM expects showers and storms across inland areas of central and southern Queensland with a medium chance of showers in the south-east.

But come Saturday, expect "unstable conditions" across the southern and eastern parts of the state. The south-east can expect showers and storms.
